John
O'Toole
Music Director
After attending the Boston University School of Fine and Applied Arts
for a time, John left to make a living otherwise, but always stayed
active in various forms of music.
He helped found a youth theater group in Needham
many years ago so he could conduct the orchestra and followed
that up by conducting many community theater shows in the area.
A former member of the Longwood Symphony,
567th Air National Guard Band, Hudson Symphony Pro Musica, several
local swing bands, and associate director of the Central Congregational
Church (Newton) choir for many years, he can now be found in the
Bass Trombone chair of the Wellesley Symphony and behind a tuba in the
Charles River
Wind
Ensemble.
He has often been sighted marching with the
Boston City Band and was conductor of its concert version for four
years.
He plays “whatever they need” with the
Blackstone Valley Community Concert Band, where he is also associate
director, and trombone with the Blackstone Valley Brass.
When home at all, he lives in Framingham.
