The Waltham American Legion Band is
seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Music Director.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing the band for
performances in parades and concerts throughout New England and
periodic trips to the American Legion National Convention.
The band has an impressive heritage since
it's founding in 1948. Dorothy Slamin Hill, the band's original
director, led the band for approximately 50 years before her retirement
in 1996. Since then she has been succeeded by Lawrence Gilbo and Edward
Russo. The band has performed in concerts and parades throughout the
U.S. and in many foreign countries. Some of the trips the band has
taken include Russia, Ireland, UK, Hawaii, Salt Lake City, Reno and
Louisville.
The band is now accepting applications. We
request that you furnish a resume by October 1,
2009 for the selection committee's review. The band rehearses on
Monday evenings 7:00-9:00pm at the Waltham American Legion Post 156, 15
Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA. Please feel free to attend one of our
rehearsals and "look us over". In addition, you may contact the
undersigned if you have any questions or wish to respond to this
announcement with your intentions. Looking forward to hearing from you.
